Perhaps the first of its kind in India, a floating research laboratory (FRL) has been launched at Manipur’s Loktak Lake to monitor the quality of the water of the largest freshwater lake in the Northeast. The floating laboratory is an initiative of the Takley based Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD). The laboratory will test the quality of water four times a year, covering all the four seasons at 15 different spots in the lake.
