The government will invest Rs 50 crore for setting up nine community colleges. “The state government has decided to support community colleges with an aim to develop self-reliant educational institutions. The community as a stakeholder will play a vital role in running the institutions and the government will act as a facilitator and regulator. We want to ensure that Meghalaya has self-sufficient and self-reliant institutions,” Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said. Sangma said the one-time capital expenditure for the colleges will be Rs 50 crore, while recurring expenditure would stand at Rs 53.11 crore.
