The government has firmed up plans for the conservation of Deepor Beel in Assam near the capital Guwahati under the Guwahati Smart City Mission. Perhaps the first of its kind in India, a floating research laboratory (FRL) has been launched at Manipur’s Loktak Lake to monitor the quality of the water of the largest freshwater lake in the Northeast. The floating laboratory is an initiative of the Takley based Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD).
