UP to evaluate health performance

Uttar Pradesh government has devised a system to evaluate performance of the districts on the basis of 34 health indicators, an official statement said. The system that was started in July this year focuses on indicators of family planning, maternal & child health, data quality of Health Management Information System and budget utilisation of National Health Mission (NHM) funding. In July, Bareilly, Baghpat, Kannauj, Moradabad, Lalitpur and Shamli were ranked as the best performing districts on health indicators while Kanpur Dehat, Ghazipur, Ballia, Meerut, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Faizabad and Bijnor were ranked as poor performing districts, as per the statement.

Delhi Metro launched a Swachh Metro campaign on the second anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The campaign lasted six days beginning October 2. The objective was to reinforce the message of cleanliness among the public and work to better the environment at all metro stations, its installations and their surroundings. All Metro staff on duty took the “Swachh Pledge” at their respective stations and depots. ·      The women of Ratanpur in Madhya Pradesh were habituated to waking up early in the morning, so they could go into the fields to defecate before others came.  One day they had an epiphany, and 10 of them resolved to build toilets near their home. They dug pits and strung up old bedsheets and sarees around each pit for privacy.  Their effort caught the attention of the local authorities who encouraged them to form a Shauch Mukt Samiti.
